Mothers' Groups meet weekly at the same time children play. While observing and interacting with their children, mothers discuss parenting and early development. Parent-child interactions, mothers' childhood memories and life events that impact development and parenting are discussed.
Mothering is a process that is different at each phase, and varies for each child and mother. Mothers' Groups with early childhood professionals promote the emergence and consolidation of each mother's own parenting philosophy - an amalgamation of family traditions and values, scientific research and current parenting trends. A mother's parenting philosophy integrates unique characteristics of her child with her own personal style and individual goals. Mothers' Groups deepen relationships among the women who share their personal experience of early mothering.
There are 6-8 mothers in each group. Mothers' Groups are led by Ilene Sackler Lefcourt.
